
On an overclocked Pi 3, I've experienced minimal to no loss in frame rates (the only loss I've seen so far is a subtle dip when exiting a menu in Final Fantasy III), and I find that many visual and audio effects tend to look and sound subtly cleaner, so I see it as the better choice. In the case of lr-snes9x, I currently favor it over lr-snes9x2010, even though none of my games use MSU-1 audio.
